SINGAPORE – National selectors have given the green light to an additional 44 athletes for the 2015 South-east Asian Games held here from June 5 to 16.
The Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC) Games Appeals Committee met today (April 2) to review more names for selection, with 44 athletes from 13 sports (swimming, boxing, silat, petanque, volleyball, archery, badminton, rugby, gymnastics, wushu, athletics, hockey, and floorball) making the cut. They will join some 941 athletes selected by the SNOC in the first selection meeting in January, bringing the current contingent size to 985.
National sports associations (NSAs) will have to narrow down the specific athletes for the events and submit a shortlist by April 15, with the final list of representatives for the SEA Games to be completed by the end of April.
“Tremendous efforts have been put in by the athletes and the NSAs to qualify for the 2015 SEA Games. This spirit displayed by them is very encouraging. The SNOC is proud to endorse their participation for the upcoming SEA Games,” said SNOC secretary-general Chris Chan.
