SINGAPORE — As part of continuing efforts to make the F1 experience more accessible to the public, the Singapore Airlines (SIA) Light Up The Night Carnival will be a two-day event this year. It will be held from Aug 22-23 as a lead-up to the 2015 Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix (Sept 18 to 20).

The carnival at the F1 Pit Building will be open for free to members of the public, and is part of a series of activities organised by local carrier SIA, title-sponsor of the Singapore night race.

F1 fans will be able to purchase tickets for the 2015 Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix at exclusive rates, as well as race merchandise at the carnival.

Like the inaugural SIA Light Up The Night Carnival last year, this year’s event will also see a supercar convoy on the first day of the carnival.

Motorsports enthusiasts will also be treated to stunt displays, and can try their hand at changing a F1 race car tyre at Singapore GP’s Pit Stop Challenge. The SIA Paper Plane Challenge will see participants competing with paper planes for the Greatest Distance and Fastest Plane categories.

The carnival will also feature activities for the family, including movie screenings, board games, face-painting, and photo opportunities with Madame Tussauds Singapore wax figures of F1 drivers Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel.

“We were very encouraged by the overwhelming response to the first-ever Singapore Airlines Light Up The Night Carnival last year,” said SIA Divisional Vice President Sales & Marketing Foo Chai Woo. “This year, we are bringing back the Carnival as a two-day event to allow more fans to enjoy exciting Formula 1-related activities, as we gear up for the night race in September.”

Singapore GP Deputy Chairman Colin Syn said that they are delighted to partner SIA for the carnival in conjunction with their “Rev Up Singapore! campaign”. “With less than a month to the 2015 Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix, we want to spread the excitement of Formula 1 to as many people as possible from the petrol heads, to even fitness enthusiasts with the exciting offerings at the carnival,” he said.
