SINGAPORE -- The inaugural NBA 3X Singapore 3-on-3 basketball tournament, which was postponed in June because of the haze, returned to the Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza today with three days of fringe activities and basketball action.

NBA stars gracing the event include All-Star centre Brook Lopez of the Brooklyn Nets and the Brooklynettes dance team. The Suns Gorilla -- the official mascot of the Phoenix Suns – is also set to feature over the weekend.

A total of 100 teams have signed up for the tournament which started today from 6.30pm, and will continue on Saturday and Sunday from 8.00am onwards. Event organiser Black Dot also confirmed that all the teams which signed up for the postponed event in June will return to take part.

“It is going to be three days of fun and entertainment, not just basketball action but the total NBA experience,” said Black Dot Executive Director Nicholas Fang. “We are happy because it shows NBA Asia’s commitment to this event in Singapore.”

Originally scheduled to take place in June, the NBA 3X 3-on-3 basketball tournament was re-scheduled after the haze made playing conditions unsuitable.

However, the event still proceeded indoors, with more than 1,000 fans getting to meet Memphis Grizzlies star Quincy Pondexter and New Orleans Pelicans star Robin Lopez, who made special appearances.
