SINGAPORE — The NBA 3X Singapore that was postponed due to the haze from the Sumatra fires late June will now take place from Aug 31 to Sep 1. Organisers Black Dot confirmed the three-on-three tournament for the 100 teams will take place at the original venue of Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza.

All teams signed up for the postponed June event will be eligible to take part.

While the three-on-three tournament was among a handful of sporting events hit by the haze that blighted the region for two weeks, indoor interactive fan sessions and media events still went ahead with fans giving a rousing reception to NBA players Robin Lopez of the New Orleans Pelicans and Quincy Poindexter of the Memphis Grizzlies, the Laker Girls dance team from the Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets mascot Rocky the Mountain Lion.

The re-scheduled event — presented by Standard Chartered Bank — later this month will feature All Star center Brook Lopez, and the Brooklynettes dance team from the Brooklyn Nets. The Suns Gorilla, the official mascot of the Phonenix Suns, will also be making the trip to the Lion City.

The complete competition schedule will be released closer to the event. For more info, go to http://www.nba3x.com/sg/index.html.
