SINGAPORE — NTUC FairPrice has given next June’s SEA Games a boost, after announcing it will commit S$5 million to sponsor the event.
During a ceremony today (June 24), NTUC FairPrice Chairman Ng Ser Miang presented a cheque of S$5 million to the Singapore SEA Games Organising Committee (SINGSOC). As part of the Tier-1 sponsorship, S$2 million of the amount will be in cash, while the remaining will be in kind, such as providing mineral water or snacks during the Games.
This is the largest donation NTUC FairPrice has made to a sporting event.
The amount puts SINGSOC on its way towards the S$50 million sponsorship target it set last year, and it is confident it will reach its goal as it continues to engage corporates, ranging from small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to Temasek-linked companies (TLCs).
“The SEA Games is going to be a large, regional games. It’s going to attract a lot of viewership and consumers in Southeast Asia. So to have that population base, we look at the Singapore corporates, whether they are larger TLCs, government-linked companies (GLCs) or SMEs. We think that’s going to be of tremendous value,” said Mr Richard Seow, Chairman of Sponsorship and Marketing Advisory Sub-Committee of SINGSOC. CHANNEL NEWSASIA
