Safuwan scores again, but Melbourne City lose

MELBOURNE – Safuwan Baharudin scored his second goal in three matches for Melbourne City, but was unable to prevent his side from losing 3-2 to the Western Sydney Wanderers in an Australian A-League match today (March 11).
The 23-year-old Singaporean’s 28th minute strike had given the visitors the lead, but Western Sydney’s Matej Pollak equalized just before half-time.
Aaron Mooy put Melbourne City ahead with a 71st minute free-kick, but late strikes from Tomi Juric and Nikita Rukavytsya secured all three points for Western Sydney.
The result sees Melbourne City drop to seventh with 24 points after 20 matches in the 10-strong A-League standings, whilst Western Sydney climb off the bottom into ninth with 11 points from 19 games.
Safuwan is with Melbourne City on a three-month loan from Singapore’s LionsXII. The Australian side are expected to make a decision by the end of the A-League season on whether to offer him a permanent deal.
