KUALA LUMPUR — Roanne Ho has won the 50m breaststroke at the 29th SEA Games in a SEA Games record time of 31.29sec

The 25-year-old, who won the event at the 2015 SEA Games in Singapore, took a half-body-length lead at the halfway mark and touched home ahead of nearest challenger Phee Jinq En.

Her time cracked her previous SEA Games mark of 31.45.

It was a 1-3 finish for Singapore as Samantha Yeo finished third in 32.17sec

Ho's victory is Singapore's first gold medal of the night and the Republic's fourth of the swimming competition in Kuala Lumpur so far.

It was particularly special for Ho as she had recovered from a collapsed lung and shoulder surgery last year to make a comeback at the Games.
