Singapore Airlines on board as official sponsor for WTA Finals

SINGAPORE - The inaugural Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Finals in Singapore announced Singapore Airlines as an official sponsor today (Sept 30).

SINGAPORE - The inaugural Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Finals in Singapore announced Singapore Airlines as an official sponsor today (Sept 30).

The season-ending tournament will be held at the Sports Hub from Oct 17 to 26, and is due to feature the world’s top eight women’s singles and doubles players including current world number one and two, Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova.

As part of the sponsorship, Singapore Airlines will be flying players and officials into Singapore. Six of the iconic Singapore Girls will also feature at the prize presentation ceremony.

Foo Chai Woo, the airline’s Divisional Vice President of Sales and Marketing said: ”This is another example of our commitment to both sports and tourism. This world-class event will attract both local and overseas tennis fans, showcasing WTA’s huge presence and growing influence in Asia-Pacific.”

Last week, organisers assured that ticket prices would be kept affordable.

This is the first time the tournament is being held in the Asia Pacific region, Singapore will be staging the tournament until 2018.
