Singapore trio become Asian bowling champions

SINGAPORE — Singapore’s Geraldine Ng, Joey Yeo and New Hui Fen won gold in the women’s trios event at the 23rd Asian Tenpin Bowling Championships today (Jan 22). It is also the Republic’s first gold medal at the championships.

SINGAPORE — Singapore’s Geraldine Ng, Joey Yeo and New Hui Fen won gold in the women’s trios event at the 23rd Asian Tenpin Bowling Championships today (Jan 22). It is also the Republic’s first gold medal at the championships.

At the Blu-O Rhythm & Bowl Ratchayothin in Bangkok, the trio chalked up a total of 3,899 pinfalls to pip their nearest competitors — South Korea — by four pins (3,895). A second South Korean team settled for bronze with a total of 3,776 pinfalls.

The competition ends next Monday (Jan 26), with the 5-player team event and masters finals to be contested.
