SINGAPORE — Top Singaporean marathoner Mok Ying Ren has secured a three-year sponsorship deal worth S$100,000 with Malaysia-based low-cost carrier AirAsia.
The partnership includes flights for all of Mok’s trainings and participation in races overseas as the 2013 South-east Asian (SEA) Games champion embarks on his quest to represent Singapore at the 2016 Oympics in Rio de Janeiro.
At the announcement today (April 17) at the National University of Singapore, where Mok graduated from with a degree in medicine, AirAsia Singapore Chief Executive Officer Logan Velaitham revealed that the deal will also offer supporters of Mok attractive travel packages whenever he chooses to race overseas.
This is not AirAsia’s first sports sponsorship in Singapore. Last year, the carrier also came on board as the official airline partner of the Football Association of Singapore.
Said Mok, 26: “Representing Singapore at the Olympics, competing alongside the world’s best, is something all athletes dream of. I am no exception. This partnership with AirAsia will definitely provide me with the right platform to work towards that dream.”
