S’pore’s SEA Games athletics team manager in “stable” condition after accident
SINGAPORE — Lawrenz Sim, the team manager of Singapore’s track and field team for the South-east Asian (SEA) Games, was involved in a car accident yesterday, but is now in a “stable” condition in hospital.

SINGAPORE — Lawrenz Sim, the team manager of Singapore’s track and field team for the South-east Asian (SEA) Games, was involved in a car accident yesterday, but is now in a “stable” condition in hospital.
Last night, Singapore Athletics said that assistant national team manager Morales Menon would take over Sim’s duties for the Games while the latter recuperates.
“Lawrenz is in a stabilised condition and he is currently recuperating,” said Yazeen Buhari, general manager of Singapore Athletics. “Right now, he is being monitored by the doctors and we are keeping in close communication with Lawrenz’s family members.”
Hosts Singapore is sending a 749-strong athlete delegation for the SEA Games, of which 74 will be from track and field, including sprinters Calvin Kang and Shanti Pereira, national women’s high jump record holder Michelle Sng and marathon runner Soh Rui Yong.
The athletics programme, which will feature 46 events, starts on June 6. Singapore is aiming to finish among the top three nations in track and field at the SEA Games. SHANJAYAN MUNIAPPAN
