SINGAPORE — A video clip highlighting the importance of Singaporeans’ support to the Republic’s athletes is gaining popularity online, and has since been viewed more than 50,000 times on Facebook since it was released yesterday (Nov 25).
The video, released by Team Singapore, starts with a lone sentence saying: “These comments were made by Singaporeans”. It then tracks the daily routine of our athletes, some of whom start out their day faced with harsh and negative comments.
As they begin the arduous and regimented task of training, supportive words start to appear instead. Even when they hit a low point, encouraging words motivate the athletes.
It ends with the powerful phrase: “5 million voices. One Team.”
The 90-second video has been shared more than 300 times on Facebook and has more than 1,000 likes as of 11pm today.
“Your voice matters to our athletes. Let’s come together as #OneTeamSG. Cheer as one . Win as one!” wrote Team Singapore on the Facebook post.
The clip was also uploaded Sport Singapore’s YouTube account on Monday and has garnered more than 13,000 views.
Jacob Teo on Facebook said: “Inspiring stuff...it’s so easy to pass lazy comments when one doesn’t see the many hours our athletes put in day on day, year on year... #oneteamsg”
Loh Woon Liang also commented: “You guys inspire us as a nation! Do your best!!”
