Puig wins WTA Rising Stars

SINGAPORE – Puerto Rico’s Monica Puig triumphed 6-4, 6-3 against China’s Zheng Saisai in the first ever WTA Rising Stars finals in a match that took one hour and 32 minutes at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

SINGAPORE – Puerto Rico’s Monica Puig triumphed 6-4, 6-3 against China’s Zheng Saisai in the first ever WTA Rising Stars finals in a match that took one hour and 32 minutes at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

The tournament was played in a round-robin format among four young and upcoming players – Puig, Zheng, American Shelby Rogers and Kazakh Zarina Diyas. The Rising Stars, who all had to be under 23 years of age, were chosen via online poll on the WTA website.
