Serena Williams rebounds from worst career loss to defeat Bouchard at WTA Finals

SINGAPORE — World No 1 Serena Williams bounced back from one of the biggest defeats in her professional career to defeat Eugenie Bouchard 6-1, 6-1 in just under an hour this evening (Oct 23).

SINGAPORE — World No 1 Serena Williams bounced back from one of the biggest defeats in her professional career to defeat Eugenie Bouchard 6-1, 6-1 in just under an hour this evening (Oct 23).

At the Singapore Indoor Stadium, Williams handed Bouchard a third straight defeat in the Red Group and kept her hopes alive of advancing to the semi-finals of the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore.

Just yesterday, Simona Halep sent Williams packing with a 6-0, 6-2 scalping.

The win took Williams to a 2-1 win-loss position, with Halep set to meet Ana Ivanovic tomorrow to conclude the round-robin for the Group.

Halep is on 2-0 while Ivanovic has a 1-1 record.
