SINGAPORE – Nikon has unveiled the second range of its Spring 2014 Coolpix digital camera series, and it has something for everyone including bird-watchers, stargazers and adrenaline junkies.

The star of the lineup was without doubt the P600. The ultra-zoom camera boasts 60x optical zoom and 120x Dynamic Fine Zoom (2880mm, 35mm format equivalent).

The P600 also features a 16.1-megapixel backside-illuminated (BSI) CMOS sensor and high ISO (6400) sensitivity to ensure quality images even in low-light conditions.

But this camera is not just for stalkers. The P600 also comes with Bird-watching and Moon modes which automatically adjusts aperture and shutter speed settings, allowing users to take pictures of wild birds or the moon with ease.

Another ultra-zoom camera, the P530, was also unveiled by Nikon but it but only offers 42x optical zoom and 84x Dynamic Fine Zoom and does not come with built-in WiFi.

Up next was the P340, a 12-megapixel compact camera that features a 5x wide-angle to telephoto zoom and a 10x Dynamic Fine Zoom.

It also has a 1/1.7-inch backside- illuminated (BSI) CMOS sensor that offers users the ability to confidently capture vibrant photos with low noise as well as a f/1.8 lens renders photos and Full HD 1080/60i video with stereo sound.

The lens also includes Vibration Reduction image stabilization to further reduce the effects of image blur when shooting handheld. A new neutral density (ND) filter on the P340 enables use of slower shutter speeds even in bright situations and lets users adjust the expression of water flow or degree of blur flexibly.

Nikon also unveiled the successor to the AW110 tough camera.

The AW120 includes a 5x optical zoom NIKKOR lens, a BSI CMOS sensor with an effective pixel count of 16.0-million pixels, and built-in Wi-Fi support.

It is tough enough to use in the most severe outdoor situations with waterproofing to a depth of 18 metres, shock-proofing that allows the cameras to withstand falls up to approximately 2m, cold- proofing to approximately minus 10°C, and dust- proofing compliant with JIS/IEC Class 6 (IP6X).

Most importantly, the AW120 has a built-in world map with an Action Map Control function that enables the enlargement and reduction of the map simply by shaking the camera.

The camera also has an electronic compass that records information such as position and the direction in which the camera is pointing with shooting. The Point Of Interest (POI) function records location information of taken pictures or movies and the Logging function records route of movement.
