SINGAPORE — Try this. Send a football emoji to a friend on your Facebook Messenger app. Tap on the emoticon you’ve just sent, and you will be led to a secret game of tapping where you try to keep a football from falling out of the screen.

As Facebook Messenger pits you against your friend by keeping track of the high-scores, the game can get as addictive (and competitive) as Flappy Bird – you’ve been warned. The Easter egg on the Messenger app comes as the the Euro 2016 – the quadrennial international men’s football championship of Europe organised by – is underway.

For the game to work, users will need to have the latest version of Messenger. The update was available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play since Wednesday (June 15).

The football game is just one of the few casual games hidden built into your Messenger app. You can also put your basketball aiming skills to the test too by sending a basketball emoji to your friend.

A game of chess with your friends can be activated when you enter “@fbchess play”. You can move the chess pieces by typing @fbchess with the notation of the chess pieces (K for king, Q for queen, B for bishop, N for knight, R for rook, P for pawn) followed by their position you want to move the piece to.
