SINGAPORE — Samsung today (Jan 13) announced the launch of its updated 2016 Galaxy A smartphones — the Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 — in Singapore. The Korean electronics company also announced the local retail availability of the Galaxy Note 5 in pink gold.

The three new Galaxy A phones will feature 2.7mm bezels and offer three Super AMOLED screen size options: 4.7-inch for the A3, 5.2-inch for the A5 and 5.5-inch for the A7.

All phones will also sport 13-megapixel rear cameras and 5-megapixel front-facing cameras with f1.9 aperture lenses. The A5 and A7’s rear cameras have been enhanced with the Optical Image Stabiliser (OIS) for blur-free images.

Equipped with dual-SIM capabilities, the A3 will feature a unique hybrid SIM slot which can double up as a microSD memory card slot, supporting up to 128GB of additional memory when the second SIM card is not in use. The A5 and A7 also come with dual-SIM capabilities as well as an additional microSD memory slot.

Both A5 and A7 will support CAT 6 LTE, allowing users to surf the Internet at up to 300Mbps. The A3 will support CAT 4 LTE.

PRICING AND AVAILABILITY

The new series will be available in black, gold and pink gold colours, with 16GB storage onboard.

The Galaxy A3 will be available from Friday (Jan 16) at a recommended retail price (RRP) of S$398, while both Galaxy A5 and A7 will be available from Jan 30 at S$598 and S$698 respectively.

Consumers who purchase the A3 will be able to enjoy a complimentary Samsung EVO MicroSD card (32GB) packed in-box at launch on a while-stocks-last basis.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 in pink gold will be available from Jan 23 with 32GB and 64GB storage options at the RRPs of S$988 and S$1,088 respectively.

All phones will be available at local telecommunication operators, major consumer electronics stores, authorised retailers and Samsung Experience Stores.

CORRECTION: In an earlier version of this article, we reported that all phones support Cat 6 LTE. This is incorrect. The A5 and A7 support CAT 6 LTE. The A3 will support CAT 4 LTE. We are sorry for the error.
