SINGAPORE — Samsung’s latest smartphones, the Galaxy S7 and the S7 edge will be available in Singapore from March 12, with pre-orders starting this Friday (Feb 26) at 10am. Only the 32GB versions will be available at launch.

A spokesperson for Samsung told TODAY that the 64GB versions of both devices will not be available at launch in Singapore, but cannot confirm when or if they will eventually be sold here. However, the availability of microSD card support on the S7 devices will mean that users can add up to an additional 200GB if they require more storage.

Consumers can place their pre-orders with the three major telcos as well as at all Samsung Experience stores. Customers are required to place a S$50 deposit per device when they pre-order them at the Samsung Experience stores.

At launch, the S7 and S7 edge will be available at a recommended retail price of S$998 and S$1,098 respectively. They will come in three shades: Black Onyx, Gold Platinium and Silver Titanium.

Customers who have successfully pre-ordered will receive their phones and a complimentary Samsung Gear VR worth S$148 a day before the launch.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 line was announced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona on Sunday (Feb 22, Singapore time). Both smartphones boast improvements over their S6 predecessors such as increased battery capacity, improved camera technology and IP68 water/dust resistance, which means the phones can survive a brief, accidental dip in the pool.

Interested customers can check out the telcos' websites for more information: http://www.m1.com.sg/s7ands7edge, http://www.singtel.com/s7ands7edge and http://www.starhub.com/s7ands7edge.
