SINGAPORE — The latest Borderlands game has been announced! And judging by what I saw in a media preview, it will almost certainly be as explosive as its very successful predecessors.

The latest installment of the hit first-person shooter will be a sequel to the first Borderlands and a prequel to Borderlands 2, hence the quirky title.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is set on the moon of Elpis and Hyperion’s base from Borderlands 2. The plot will revolve around a younger Handsome Jack – the antagonist of Borderlands 2 – and you will get to play as one of four characters: Athena the Gladiator, Wilhelm the Enforcer, Nisha the Lawbringer, and a militarised version of Claptrap.

And just like every Borderlands game, there will be tons of weapons to choose from. The preview I saw featured guns that allowed you to freeze your enemies, then smash them to bits, and laser-powered weapons which dish out plenty of damage.

The title also will feature jetpacks and oxygen will play a huge role in the game. The oxygen resources will reportedly be lootable and you will need to manage your O2 levels to survive.

The game has been confirmed for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It is not clear right now if an Xbox One and PlayStation 4 version is also in the works.
