SINGAPORE — GrabTaxi today (Nov 30) announced an upcoming feature for its app. “Flash”, which allows customers to book the nearest available vehicle — be it a taxi or private car — at the click of a button.

Previously, customers would have to choose either to book a taxi or a private car. But the new “Flash” feature combines both broadcasts, providing more convenience to those who care more about getting their ride quickly rather than what type of vehicle they get.

The “Flash” feature will only be available to Android and iOS users from mid-December. Mobile users must download the latest version of the GrabTaxi app to use it.

Besides the “Flash” feature, GrabTaxi is also introducing a integrated portal called Passenger Hub for customers to view their receipts. This is to assist those who may have to pore through their emails to pull up their receipts for business claims.

Additionally, the app update will also allow passengers to distinguish between their business and personal rides. Passengers can tag their business rides to generate separate statements for claims submission purposes.

Also, when a booking is confirmed, passengers will be shown the car model of the GrabCar they’ve book so they will be able to recognise the car from a distance.

Other features GrabTaxi is introducing include a one-tap rating feature to track driver performance. It will now be mandatory to rate your driver once the journey has ended. It is part of its safety enhancement measures “as GrabTaxi regularly reviews driver ratings and feedback to either counsel and send errant drivers for training, or in serious cases, de-register them from the system.”
