SINGAPORE — Neighbours in the same block of flats now have another way of informing each other about inconveniences, after neighbourhood social networking platform BlockPooling.sg launched an “Inform” tool.

Citing a report that 70,000 complaints are lodged by neighbours to public agencies such as Town Councils each year, the social networking platform hopes this will ensure neighbours are able to alert each other to potential inconveniences, according to its press release today (Jan 6).

“There should be an easy way for residents to alert their neighbours to potential inconveniences, such as if they are having a party, wedding or funeral. Once alerted, the neighbours would be able to plan for it,” said Mr Moh Hon Meng, 46, CEO of BlockPooling.sg. “For neighbours who are being inconvenienced, there should be a simple and friendly way for residents to inform them.”

The “Inform” tool also comes with a range of pre-set messages for users to select, so that “no one gets angry or offended” by badly worded feedback, says Mr Moh.

All postings via the “Inform” tool will be sent as an email to neighbours in the same block who have registered with the service.

The new tools come after BlockPooling.sg’s recently re-launched website, and the platform aims to introduce new tools and initiatives in the future, to “take on greater challenges such as earning incomes, social renewal and resource conservation”, said Mr Moh. CHANNEL NEWSASIA
