SINGAPORE — In yet another collaboration with a Singapore telco announced this week, Samsung has teamed up with SingTel to launch a slew of regional initiatives which include direct billing for Samsung Apps and one-stop retail shops combining smartphone and mobile plan services.

A mobile app development programme was also announced, which will identify and accelerate innovative startups in the region, and give them access to SingTel’s 500 million mobile customers globally.

The initiatives will be progressively rolled out by entities in the Singtel Group: SingTel in Singapore, Optus in Australia, AIS in Thailand, Airtel in India and Africa, Globe Telecom in the Philippines and Telkomsel in Indonesia.

The details of the initiatives were unveiled this morning by Mr Paul O’Sullivan, chief executive officer of Group Consumer for SingTel, at Marina Bay Sands, where Samsung’s new flagship Galaxy S5 smartphone was also launched.

“Our partnership with Samsung demonstrates SingTel Group’s ability to leverage its combined scale and deliver exclusive offerings to our over half a billion customers across the region,” said Mr O’Sullivan.
