For the first time, Singapore recently hosted the opening round of the 2014 Extreme Sailing Series at Marina Bay. Now in its eighth season in 2014, the Extreme Sailing Series has brought the sport of yachting well into the 21st century with 'Stadium sailing'. The 40-foot 12m long carbon Extreme 40 multi-hull yachts can sail in as little as 8 knots of breeze (15 kph) in hectic races lasting only 15-20 minutes long.
