Dwell times at bus stops are a problem. Bus service 170, for example, has 36 stops in between Bukit Panjang and Sim Lim Square: A journey of about half an hour takes an hour or more now.
Is it possible to have a system whereby the buses are labelled 170A, 170B and 170C, each stopping at bus stops labelled A, B and C respectively? Each bus would then make only 13 stops in this case.
Such a bus system has two advantages: Buses would be less crowded and would reach their destinations faster. This may encourage more to use the bus.
