Allow family members to activate Silver Card of those with disabilities

I refer to “48 places islandwide to activate PAssion Silver Card” (Jan 11), and would like to ask how those who have disabilities or problems with mobility can be allowed to activate the card without having to present themselves at the counters.

I refer to “48 places islandwide to activate PAssion Silver Card” (Jan 11), and would like to ask how those who have disabilities or problems with mobility can be allowed to activate the card without having to present themselves at the counters.

The staff would need to transfer the balance from the existing concession card, and the process takes longer if the existing card is linked to a bank account for top-ups, as the balance would be refunded to the account first.

After activation, the cardholder has to activate the bank link to the new card at a ticketing machine in the MRT stations. These variations do not make activation easier elsewhere, other than the 48 locations specified.

So I hope a family member or friend can bring the identity card of the holder of the new and existing cards to the counter to activate the former on behalf of an elderly person with mobility problems.

The authorities should consider this to improve the activation procedures and make them truly user-friendly to the people they serve.
