Allow motorcyclists, cyclists and pedestrians their space on the roads
Let us have a heart for our fellow road users, especially those who might ride a motorcycle because it is a Hobson’s choice (“Public transport a safer option than motorcycles”; Aug 17).

There are also those who take to two wheels for the joy of riding, notwithstanding the risks. Whichever the case, let us be a little more forgiving of motorcyclists, cyclists and even pedestrians and allow them a little more space.
While it is prudent and there is merit in advocating the use of public transport, there are always personal circumstances for choosing a transport mode or combination of transport modes. Those of us who throw caution to the wind when riding on public roads do so at our own peril, knowing the additional risks involved.
