To implement the Committee on the Future Economy’s proposals, we must strengthen our repository of information and resources to analyse big data (“CFE charts S’pore’s way forward: Who dares, wins”; Feb 10).

This is to ensure that relevant, accurate and up-to-date information underpins our policy development and decision-making processes.

In a fast-changing world, environmental scanning and intelligence-gathering systems are needed globally. They would help us to predict economic and business trends, pre-empt opportunities and achieve first-mover advantages.

To reduce economic uncertainty, reinvigorate our current growth level and secure our future, we must constantly improve our infrastructure and implement market and structural reforms.

These reforms would be not only about developing new markets, businesses and growth opportunities, but also about helping local enterprises continue to be competitive and transform into global players.

If Singapore plans and plays our game well, we can be one of the fulcrums of a new renaissance age. We can become one of the new world’s most livable, lovable cities — filled with dream chasers, value multipliers, game changers and world-beaters.
