Are there trained female officers for victims of sexual crime?

In my work as a doctor, I come across victims of sexual abuse who are hesitant to report the perpetrators. One of the reasons stated was the need to repeat traumatic memories to a male officer who is a stranger.

In my work as a doctor, I come across victims of sexual abuse who are hesitant to report the perpetrators. One of the reasons stated was the need to repeat traumatic memories to a male officer who is a stranger.

This is not helped by some overseas stories that reporting to the authorities is tedious and met with indifference.

My question to the Police: Are there trained female officers to interview victims of sexual crime, and if so, how are they available to victims who wish to make a report?

I had emailed the Police and received a generic reply that they cannot comment on specific situations and to go to a police station to report a crime.

Having the assurance of officers who are specially trained to handle these victims would help them come forward and identify the perpetrators before they harm more others.
