Banks should not call and ask for personal info
DBS Bank called me recently on my mobile phone to verify that I had issued a cheque. I was asked to give my name and National Registration Identity Card number.
DBS Bank called me recently on my mobile phone to verify that I had issued a cheque. I was asked to give my name and National Registration Identity Card number.
I was also asked how many accounts I had with the bank. But how does one know that the person calling is really from DBS and not a crook fishing for information?
The Monetary Authority of Singapore should ask our banks to review this protocol. They should not ask customers for personal information over the telephone in the case of outgoing calls from the bank.
