Be gracious about delays in construction

I refer to the report “Ng Teng Fong General Hospital delayed by 6 months” (Aug 18). I empathise with contractors in the construction industry. They face numerous constraints and must keep up with tight schedules, which is never easy.

I refer to the report “Ng Teng Fong General Hospital delayed by 6 months” (Aug 18). I empathise with contractors in the construction industry. They face numerous constraints and must keep up with tight schedules, which is never easy.

Further, some residents complain about the slightest noise, as well as the dust, from nearby construction sites, making things even harder for construction staff.

Let us put ourselves in the latter’s shoes. They work in much closer proximity to the inevitable noise and dust daily, rain or shine.

They are out there earning a small living, risking at times a finger or two, et cetera, to make for us better walkways and facilities, a transport system and so on, giving us a better place and environment in which to live.

Let us try to understand these difficulties and be gracious about such delays.
