I refer to the report “Second driver arrested for fatal accident along PIE” (Sept 25).

Many may continue to object to the use of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in public places, but the recording of this accident proves that it is good to have CCTV. Cameras helped the authorities to identify, with evidence, the person(s) directly responsible for the fatal accident.

I offer my condolences to the motorcyclist’s grieving family. A young man’s life has been cut short because of negligence.

I hope for more cameras in vehicles, inside and outside shops, on lamp-posts and at crowded hot spots and public places as well as strategic installations. There is nothing bad about CCTV cameras when we remind ourselves of the bigger picture.
