Change laws to cover repairs in private estates, too

I applaud the National Development Minister for proposing legislative amendments to empower Housing and Development Board (HDB) officers to access flats to investigate and repair leaky ceilings. (“Govt looking to empower HDB to enter flats for repairs”; Dec 23)

This is long overdue. For example, the owner living above my parents’ home refused to cooperate despite several reminders. The HDB had to resort to legal action, which is a waste of time and resources for dealing with uncooperative owners.

The authorities should look into making similar amendments to cover private estates to ensure a better living environment for everyone.
