Charge for plastic bags to cut down on their use

In Hong Kong, shops and supermarkets charge a small amount for plastic bags; the exception is when perishable food is bought. Even at fashion stores in shopping centres, the staff ask if any bags are required.
I notice that most locals in Hong Kong, including the elderly, bring their own bags. I can sense the scheme’s success, and I adopt the same practice here. We need only one step at a time to educate people and, in time, make this a habit. Thomson Png
