After more than two years on the job, coach Bernd Stange has yet to deliver something resembling success for Singapore football. To be fair to Singapore and those waiting to take over this hot seat, it is time we sack him.

Last week, a country mired in mayhem and war beat us 2-1 on our home ground. Imagine if Syria had been a peaceful country and better prepared for this match (“Defeat leaves bitter taste in Lions’ mouths”; Nov 18).

Surely, the 7,500 supporters must have watched in disbelief; throughout the match, we had only one shot on target, which is a disgrace. If this is not the abyss, I wonder how much lower we can sink.

Two years is more than sufficient time to build up a respectable, if not formidable, team. If Singapore’s young talents, who have almost everything available to train and develop, do not succeed, the axe falls on the coach.

To Mr Stange, we say thank you for your time. It is now time to save Singapore football by passing the baton to the next coach.
