Consider aligning poly tenure to two years

The Government should consider aligning the polytechnic tenure from three years to two years, by employing smart learning technologies and allowing more intellectual space for individual research.

The Government should consider aligning the polytechnic tenure from three years to two years, by employing smart learning technologies and allowing more intellectual space for individual research.

If prudently implemented, we would be able to save taxpayers’ money and, with the savings, finance the top 30 per cent of polytechnic students for an 18-month, top-up applied degree in their specialisation.

In this way, they would not have to pay for pricey private degrees that may not have a strong curriculum and faculty mix. In a competitive global environment, polytechnic students must be upskilled quickly, and such a change would make us more competitive.
