Curb nuisance caused by children in lifts

As one who lives in a public flat, I have experienced issues relating to lift malfunction, and I am sure many of us face breakdowns on occasion.

As one who lives in a public flat, I have experienced issues relating to lift malfunction, and I am sure many of us face breakdowns on occasion.

I agree that the responsibility to ensure the smooth running of lifts lies in our hands too (“S’poreans must play their part to ensure lifts are not abused”; March 14).

In my experience, there are indeed parents who fail to prevent their children from being a public nuisance by pressing lift buttons unnecessarily, which may shorten the lift’s lifespan and cause system glitches that cost money to repair.

To reduce such inconveniences, one solution is to put up signs in lifts on this issue. Being considerate is the bedrock of strong relationships between neighbours, and this is also for the greater good of society.
