I am disturbed by the organiser’s decision to switch on the Christmas lights earlier at 3pm, in order to give visitors a “different experience”.

I do not agree with this move to have daytime Christmas lights. It is definitely a waste of electricity to switch on the lights while it is still bright, especially when they will not produce the same beautiful effect as when it is dark and the contrast is greater.

While I understand that energy-efficient LED lights will be used, it is still energy needlessly used.

In this day and age, when we have Earth Hour, are getting people to save water with energy-efficient appliances, and advocating green efforts such as using less plastic or disaposable products, such a move is a cause for concern.

I urge the organisers to reconsider this decision of theirs.
