After reading “Toilets at coffee shops, food courts should not be open for public use” (March 24, online), I wish to comment that it would be absurd and a waste if the public and customers cannot use the toilets.

If that were to be the case, should not toilets at shopping centres, hospitals and hotels be closed to the public and even customers? If the answer is yes, then why build toilets in such places in the first place?

What must be done is to employ cleaners, as is done in shopping centres, hospitals, hotels and so on. Toilets are necessary for humans to answer the call of nature, and closing them to public use is an unwise recommendation.

Coffee shop toilets must be cleaned every day for usage by customers and the public — (and they) should be educated and reminded to keep the toilets clean too, so that others can continue to use them.
