Fair to reward bus operators only if improvement achieved using the same resources
I agree with the letter “LTA needs to justify reward to bus operators” (May 18). If some bus services’ waiting times were improved after 800 buses had been provided, then the reward is unfair.

Incentives should be awarded for improvements or performance targets achieved with the same resources.
Also, waiting times could be improved with less rest for bus drivers, but this could be at the expense of safety, as drivers who are not well-rested may put commuters at risk of accidents.
