Free Wi-Fi should be on trains, buses instead
I refer to the report “Free Wi-Fi at all MRT, LRT stations by 2020: LTA” (Oct 13).

When travelling by MRT on some occasions, I tried to use the free Wi-Fi at Jurong East station but was unsuccessful.
Before I could complete the registration process — which has too many steps — the train would arrive.
In general, commuters do not need to wait very long for trains. There is little need to connect to free Wi-Fi while waiting at the MRT stations.
Commuters are spending more of their time on trains, and this is when they really have the time to surf the Internet.
Free Wi-Fi will be more useful if it is available on train and buses instead, and I suggest the Land Transport Authority consider doing so.
