Govt critics riding on Amos’ case for their own cause

It seems that individuals who have an axe to grind with the Government are again riding on cases that appear to showcase their cause.

While I can accept this, I am appalled that we have Singaporeans who see the need to incite participants of other nationalities in what is considered a local issue.

For example, Mr Goh Meng Seng, a former member of the Workers’ Party and the National Solidarity Party, witnessed effigies of Mr Lee Kuan Yew and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong being burnt and did nothing about it.

How would Mr Goh want Singaporeans to respect him when he does not demonstrate any patriotism in this case? Whatever argument or differences there may be, where was his respect and concern for our founding father and our Prime Minister?

And what was there to ensure Amos does not stir up more emotions, with possibly a different outcome? No one in the Hong Kong protest or the rally at Hong Lim Park stepped forward to be accountable for his actions (“Rally held at Hong Lim Park”; July 6).

Perhaps, to different persons, the meaning of right and wrong may be subjective. But with the elections approaching, I have to question if Mr Goh’s People’s Power Party is concerned about power or the people.
