Have a space for former Rochor residents to gather

I refer to the report “Rochor residents bid painful farewell to iconic estate” (Dec 30). Moving house is one of the most stressful experiences in life. This is more so for the elderly who can become disorientated, and even suffer post-traumatic stress, thus placing greater strain on families.

May I suggest a simple yet helpful gesture: The Government can set aside a dedicated space nearby for former residents of Rochor Centre to meet and chat like the old times. It can be run by a voluntary organisation but the cost can be borne by the Government.

This space need not be permanent, just one to give former residents, once part of a close-knit community, a place to mourn their loss of community and find support as they adapt to new environments.
