We thank Mr Gan Kok Tiong for his letter, “Time to improve mobility features for ground-floor flats with steps at entrance” (March 16).

The Enhancement for Active Seniors (Ease) programme seeks to help seniors in our Housing and Development Board (HDB) flats age comfortably in the community.

Under Ease, residents can choose a range of improvements, such as grab bars, ramps, and slip-resistant treatment to the existing floor tiles of bathrooms and toilets.

To benefit more residents, we recently announced that we are studying how Ease can be further enhanced to assist seniors living in flats with multi-step entrances. We will put out more details later this year.
