Housing policies must be transparent, practical
I refer to the letter, “Why penalise flat owners who genuinely need to move?” (Aug 29), in which the writer suggested reviewing the Minimum Occupation Period policy for resale flats, and having distinct policies rather than a blanket policy for all flat owners.
The problem is that giving the Housing and Development Board discretionary powers to determine which cases are genuine and which are not will mean that those whose cases do not see a favourable outcome will complain bitterly and hence create more problems.
The system must be transparent and practical.
