Improper litter disposal provides mosquitoes with breeding areas

With the number of dengue cases rising and fears of the Zika virus hitting our shores, I am certain the National Environment Agency is doing its best to remove mosquito breeding habitats.

One major reason these mosquito breeding habitats are increasing is because of littering, which some people seem to be ignorant about.

Litter can clog drains and also collect rainwater that could eventually become a habitat for mosquitoes.

The act of walking to a rubbish bin to throw litter is so simple, yet some do not do it.

Town councils continue to put up notices to advise residents to stop littering yet some still do so blatantly.

Let us be mindful of our actions to create a cleaner and safer society.
