King Albert Park Station needs three entrances

I refer to the report, “Downtown Line 2 to open ahead of schedule in Dec” (June 29). The announcement is great news, especially as the opening will happen in Singapore’s jubilee year.

I refer to the report, “Downtown Line 2 to open ahead of schedule in Dec” (June 29). The announcement is great news, especially as the opening will happen in Singapore’s jubilee year.

I live near King Albert Park Station, and applaud the effort and speed in completing the line, especially in the face of the initial delay caused by the previous contractor.

We were told, however, that the station will have only two entrance/exit points — after Blackmore Drive along Bukit Timah Road, serving The Sterling condominium, and on the other side, Sime Darby Centre.

With the number of condominiums before Blackmore Drive, namely, Wilby Residences, The Tessarina, The Nexus, The Cascadia, Floridian and Maplewoods, accounting for 2,500 households, the authority should consider having an entrance before Blackmore Drive.

This would avoid the need, especially for students, to cross Blackmore Drive to access the station. It would increase the convenience and safety for residents. I hope the number of households will be considered, and another entrance is made.
