Let nature do what nature does best

I am a permanent resident who has always been impressed by the way Singapore has stayed green despite its small size, so the recent news about Mandai was of interest to me. (“Mandai area set for major redevelopment”; Sept 5)

I am a permanent resident who has always been impressed by the way Singapore has stayed green despite its small size, so the recent news about Mandai was of interest to me. (“Mandai area set for major redevelopment”; Sept 5)

Mandai is one of Singapore’s greenest patches and is also picturesque, which is why the authorities should let nature do what it does best: Keep things green and beautiful.

Redeveloping the area would improve tourism, but this should be weighed stringently against the prospect of a dwindling green lung.

I would hope that future generations would appreciate being left a precious green jungle more than they would a concrete jungle.
