Lift shut down at MRT station inconvenienced many

I was surprised that the lift at Boon Lay MRT Station was shut down for nearly two weeks.

The reason given was that the lift company lacked the spare parts. This is not acceptable.

Why was the wait for spare parts so long? There was also no sign to indicate when the lift would be ready. It seemed as if the lift would be shut down indefinitely until the spare parts arrived.

The delay inconvenienced wheelchair users, the elderly, the infirm and pregnant ladies at this station, which is one of the busiest in Singapore, and left many of them in the lurch.

The authority should ensure that all MRT stations are served by two lifts.
