LTA should look into cyclist registration

Cyclists are making pedestrian walkways a danger zone and the Land Transport Authority should look into cyclist registration (“LTA panel to look into rules on use of footpaths, cycling paths”; July 31).

Cyclists are making pedestrian walkways a danger zone and the Land Transport Authority should look into cyclist registration (“LTA panel to look into rules on use of footpaths, cycling paths”; July 31).

This can be enforced by the shops selling bicycles, and a licence plate should be issued when the intended user or buyer has attended a course on bicycle usage. Registration would then make enforcement and education more effective.

We must take the initiative in controlling these potential dangers at source, and be the first in the world to do so, rather than wait for fatalities to happen and then act.
