Masagos’ promotion a testament to S’pore’s meritocracy

The report “Masagos promoted in Cabinet reshuffle” (April 9) is yet another proof that elevation to the Cabinet is based on meritocracy and capability. In other words, the promotion is colour-blind.

The report “Masagos promoted in Cabinet reshuffle” (April 9) is yet another proof that elevation to the Cabinet is based on meritocracy and capability. In other words, the promotion is colour-blind.

Mr Masagos Zulkifli has struck me as someone who is friendly but firm in discharging his duties in both the Home Affairs and Foreign ministries. I have no doubt he will excel in his new appointments.

I am heartened that there are more non-Chinese ministers, from diverse backgrounds.

Their different roles will help reinforce our sense of unity — the cornerstone of our multiracial, multi-religious society.
